# Screen

CRT screen effect and the switch-on animation.

## Screen effect

How much the store looks like it's on an old monitor.

| Setting                    | Look                                               |
| -------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| **Off**                    | Clean                                              |
| **Pixel grid** (default)   | A fine grid, like a screen up close                |
| **CRT**                    | Scanlines and an RGB phosphor mask                 |
| **CRT + flicker and roll** | CRT, plus a gentle flicker and a slow rolling band |

The effect is never at full strength over product photos: the desktop behind gets the heavy pass, the inside of windows a lighter one. Flicker and roll are switched off automatically for visitors who ask for reduced motion.

## Switch-on animation

A CRT powering on — a bright line snaps across a black screen, then opens to reveal the store. Half a second.

| Setting                      | When                                                  |
| ---------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| **Off**                      | Never                                                 |
| **Once per visit** (default) | The first page someone opens                          |
| **Every page load**          | Every time. Gets old quickly once someone is browsing |

Skipped for visitors who ask for reduced motion, and never plays in the theme editor.
