Products
Sold-out products, Sale and New badges, and the low-stock notice.
Theme settings → Products
Sold out
A sold-out product's card says Sold out where the price would be, so a shelf of products keeps one line.
Fade sold-out images — on by default. Drains the colour from sold-out product pictures, so the colour on the page belongs to things people can buy.
Fade amount — how much colour goes: 20 to 100%, 90% by default.
Badges
Small tags on the corner of a product's picture in every folder, like the labels stuck on a floppy.
Sale badge — on by default. A red SALE tag when a product has a compare-at price above its price (set on the product in Shopify).
New badge — on by default. A blue NEW tag on a product for a set number of days after it's published (its Published date in Shopify — when it went on sale on your Online Store). After that it comes off by itself.
Counts as new for — 14 days by default, 3 to 60. A store whose whole catalogue was just added will see NEW on everything at first; it settles as the days pass.
Your own badges — on by default. Write any tag you like on a product — LIMITED, EXCLUSIVE, PRE-ORDER — and it shows on the product's picture in every folder and above its title in the product window, black on yellow.
Adding your own badge, step by step
Settings → Custom data → Products → Add definition.
Name: Badge. Check that the Namespace and key reads
custom.badge— it must be exactly that.Type: Single line text. (For more than one badge on a product, tick List of values.)
Save.
Open a product, scroll to Metafields, type the badge —
LIMITED— and save. Products with it empty show no badge of their own.
A sold-out product gets neither — the price row already says Sold out.
Low stock
Say "Only a few left" at or below — 5 by default. In the product window, under the price, with 98's warning sign: Only 3 left. It follows the variant picker, and only shows for a variant whose stock Shopify tracks and won't oversell (Track quantity on, Continue selling when out of stock off, on the product's inventory). Set it to 0 to turn it off.
