# Installation

How to upload EXP-98 to your Shopify store.

## Upload the theme

1. Open your Shopify admin
2. **Online Store** → **Themes**
3. Top-right dropdown → **Add theme** → **Upload zip file**
4. Select the EXP-98 theme zip
5. Wait for it to process (usually 30 seconds)

Once uploaded, EXP-98 shows up in your **Theme library** — but it's not live yet.

## Customize before publishing

Don't publish yet. Click **Customize** on the EXP-98 theme first and set it up against your own products. The theme editor opens and nothing you do there is visible to customers until you hit **Publish**.

The editor is built to be worked in. While you are editing:

* The **enter gate**, the **switch-on animation**, the **idle screensaver** and **music that starts itself** are all held back, so nothing gets in your way
* **Selecting** a section or block **shows it** — pick the Music section and the player opens, pick a desktop icon's block and its window opens, pick the Taskbar and the Start menu opens, pick the Enter gate and it plays
* Changing a setting re-draws that section and **keeps its window open**, so you can see the change you just made

## Common issues

**"Theme upload failed"** Make sure you uploaded the theme zip itself, not a folder or archive that contains it.

**Settings look stale, or a change seems to undo itself** Hard refresh the theme editor (`Cmd + Shift + R` on Mac, `Ctrl + Shift + R` on Windows). If you also edit the theme's code elsewhere — through GitHub, say — reload the editor before saving in it, or it can save an older copy over newer work.
